Inclusion of handicapped people

Champagnole meeting -Summary

Monday: We all met at 8:50 at the school canteen to listen to the speech by Mrs. Crapoix, our school headmistress, who officially welcomed our partners, who had arrived in France the night before. Mr. Clement Pernot, president of the departmental council of Jura, was also there to welcome our visitors, and offered gifts to them. Mrs Moutenet, teacher in charge of this Erasmus project, also introduced the patron of the week, Arnaud George, a French champion in handicapped cycling. Each participant was offered a punched pocket of the color of the international team in which one would be working all week long (Yellow, Green, Purple, Orange, Red, Black, White, Blue). The high school offered a coin machined by the machining students from professional sections. Then we made a group photo. After a coffee break, we went to the auditorium to listen to a small presentation of the week and to know the work that we had to achieve in teams. From 10:15 to 12:30, we prepared a presentation of our group. We had to get to know each other, create a logo for our group, and imagine a rallying cry. At 12:30, we had lunch at the school canteen, explaining to our partners how it worked. Then we went back to the library to finish our work. At 2.30 pm, in the auditorium, students from each country presented their country, their region, and their school. After the presentations, we played a Kahoot game, which consists in answering questions online. They were about the presentations we had attended. And the winning team at the end had the chance to win a packet of sweets! After that, each country presented, in different ways, the results of the twinspace forums. At around 6 pm, the French students helped Mrs Vialet to decorate the mezzanine of the school canteen, in order to organize a welcoming party. At 18:30, a small appetizer was prepared for all partners and the parents of the French hosts. It consisted in local specialties among which cheeses and sausages. Then we ate morbiflette which is a winter dish, and we played games and quizzes. Mrs. Vialet asked questions about Europe : if the answer was right, the team won a point, if it was wrong, the team had a forfeit. Eventually, we had the opportunity to disguise ourselves to take pictures, and to dance. At 9pm, we cleaned everything and everyone went back home to get a good night's sleep. Written by Laura

TuesdayWe left school at 8 am by bus for an excursion to Prémanon. We arrived at Paul Emile Victor Polar Center at around 9 am and we were split into two groups. The first group did ice skating for an hour, some of the students and teachers had never done this before, so this activity encouraged us to help each other. Then we went to visit the exhibition, we were welcomed by a guide, for a guided tour in English. He explained that the exhibition is organized around major themes such as polar ecosystems, cold and polar nights, Arctic peoples, discoveries and scientific researches in Antarctica, etc. Then we did a group activity connected to the visit and the subject of our project: heroism. After hearing about heroic expeditions, we had to set up a polar expedition: calculating the route, forecasting equipment, anticipating the difficulties and the possible solutions, and so on. We had our lunch indoors because it was cold outside. But we also play snowball games, it was a curiosity for the Portuguese and Greek partners who rarely see the snow. In the afternoon we went to Les Rousses, at La Serra ski resort, where we met Laurence, a skier who accompanies the people with visual disability and blind people on the slopes. She explained the different categories of ski competitions for people with disabilities and made us aware of all the means that must be implemented to support people with disabilities and to help them achieve their passion. After that, Alain, the president of the Ski Club du Lizon, showed us the equipment people without motricity use for the handiski : adapted seats of different ranges, with skis attached under. At 15:30 we left La Serra to come back to Champagnole for an official welcome at the town hall, where the Erasmus + group was expected by Mr. Saillard, the mayor, and his assistant Mr. Dussouillez. The Mayor made a speech to welcome the partners and present the city of Champagnole. Written by Lisa

Wednesday: On Wednesday, January 24th everything went well, as the rest of the project ! The morning started at 8:15 for the students who rehearsed for a drama play scheduled in the morning. From 9:00 to 11:00 each country made a presentation of their research work on the issue of disability in their country, and on the inclusion of disabled people in society. For example the Greek team presented the result of a questionnaire conducted in their school, and the Portuguese team a video with an interview. At 11am, the French students had therefore prepared small drama scenes that represented difficult situations that people with disabilities may encounter, whether at school, in their jobs, or in their travels. It was up to the other students to propose a solution to these problems, by taking part, in the form of improvisation, in the proposed situations. In the afternoon we had free time, so a lot of the students went to Lons Le Saunier to do indoor activities like bowling, trampoline etc ... while others students went to admire the Jura beautiful landscapes and waterfalls. Written by Théo

Disability in GREECE

Disability in PORTUGAL

Thursday: We spent the day of Thursday, January 25 in Besançon. In the morning we were welcomed at the gym Jean Zay by the Departmental Committee for Handisport, which had organized for us sports activities similar to those performed during Paralympic games, such as wheelchair basketball, biathlon (shooting and running) ) and the bocha (an activity similar to pétanque, for people who suffer from cerebral palsy). We had the chance to meet two wheelchair athletes who played with us during a wheelchair basketball tournament. They impressed us with their speed and dexterity, they are real champions! This morning allowed us to put ourselves in the shoes of people with disabilities and to realize that each person can become a hero in a sport regardless of his/ her disability. Then we had a picnic in the city center of Besançon, a quick visit of some tourist places and a free time in the city. Written by Léa

Friday: The last day began with the discovery of the mascots and logo elected by the students and teachers for our Erasmus+ 2017-2019 project "You can be a hero". The winning mascots were made by a French student and the logo by a partner from Latvia. We then started to work on the scenario of the game which will be our final production at the end of the two years of the project. It is about a game in which one proposes to the player various situations of life, for which he must be brought to make the right choice. In Champagnole, we had to imagine situations related to the issue of disability. In international groups, we used post-it notes to create a decision tree that represented the different stages of the game, the situations proposed to the player, the decisions he or she could make, the consequences that were involved. It was then translated into a digital version through the iboske application, to be able to present it to everyone. After the presentations, we all voted to choose the best scenario. The "winners" were the members of the orange team. Finally, we received officially the Erasmus+ certificates in the presence of Mr Debrand, deputy headmaster, who concluded the day and the week with a speech. It was then time to say goodbye, to enjoy the last laughs and to take the last photos. Written by Lou
